The Dam Fast 5K Series originated on Lake Oroville Dam in 2008 as a way to truly test the progress of one’s fitness. Participants run the same course once a month for four months. At the end of the series the person with the highest percentage of improvement (or negative overall time) will win a prize! This is one series where being the fastest runner doesn’t ensure winning.
Categories:
Walker: This category is for people who are just starting their fitness program or do not currently run. This is the step before they are a beginner runner.
Beginner: Runner for less than 6 months or returning after extended time off (1 year+).
Intermediate: Consistent runner of more than 6 months (3+ days a week). Participates in races for personal improvement and camaraderie.
Advanced: Long time runner and/or super fast, races to win.
Participate in three out of four events to qualify for prizes and a shirt.
Registration
Each race is only $10. Sign up for all four Dam Fast runs and get $5 off! You can mail in your Lake Oroville Dam registration form or bring it to the event – either way is fine!
Only one registration form is needed but fees must be paid at each event. The fee is only $10, no late registration penalty.
Each runner will get a bib number that will be used throughout the entire series.
Race Check-in
Check in begins at 5:45 p.m on the Lake Oroville Dam. Run/walk begins at 6:30 p.m.
Course Description
The course has a little bit of everything! It has flat areas, some uphills, some downhills and not a lick of shade! But, it does have a beautiful view of Lake Oroville.
Awards
Awards will be presented on the final race night in the series to the runner who has the highest overall percent improvement over the course of the four events in the walker, beginner runner, intermediate runner and advanced runner.
Results
Each month the times will be updated here along with the percentage of improvement. Walkers under one hour will receive an official time.
Does anyone know when the 2012 registration form for the 5k dam fast will be posted or how I can sign up with out it?

Hi, Kristen. We will have the Dam Fast reg brochures and online registration up and running next week. We have to change the Oroville location so we are waiting on a permit approval before we open reg. But, don’t worry – the Dam Fast series will happen on the dates we have listed! See you there!
