Salmon Run Beneficiary
We are proud to partner with SCNAC and donate a portion of the proceeds from the 2012 Salmon Run 5K/10K and Kids Fun Runs. SCNAC’s mission is to create innovative partnerships so that low-income Californians in the north state are enabled to adopt healthy eating and physical activity patterns as part of healthy lifestyle.
The Sierra Cascade Nutrition and Activity Consortium (SCNAC) is one of the many grant funded programs within the Center For Nutrition & Activity Promotion (CNAP) at California State University, Chico that promotes healthy eating and physical activity among low-income families in northern California. SCNAC partners with local school districts and community agencies to increase fruit and vegetable consumption, physical activity, and participation in government nutrition assistance programs. The Harvest of the Month (HOTM) program is one of the many SCNAC programs designed to increase fruit and vegetable consumption among north state residents of all ages. This program impacts over 35,000 K-12 students, parents and teachers each month. Evaluation findings document a 20% increase in fruit and vegetable consumption by HOTM participants. Click here for more information on SCNAC.
Salmon Run Scholarships
Each Salmon Run Scholarship provides the opportunity for 10 elementary school students from the same school and one staff member to run in the Salmon Run 5K and receive a custom Salmon Run shirt for FREE. In the past, entire classrooms have trained for and participated in the event ranging from 2nd to 5th grade! In 2011, Scholarship
sponsors made this possible for over 50 students from three different grades and two schools to take part. If you are interested in sponsoring a Salmon Run Scholarship please contact us and we’ll share with you the positive impact you can have on our local youth.

For seven years the entry fee for the Salmon Run has been $25. Yes, we’ve been putting on this event since 2005! We know all too well that costs for everything have increased and we have held off as long as possible on the fee increase. We hope that, you, too, believe the personal and community benefit of a great event far outweigh the $2 price increase. Thanks for understanding!
