Are you going to publish more information about the Trail Less Traveled race, like a map of the run, elevation, etc? I am very interested in the race and would like to encourage other’s to join me, but need to know what I am promoting.

Thanks and have a great day.

Does any of the money go to charity? I am putting together my 2012 race series and I am making sure that I only run in runs that helps others.

    • admin November 17, 2011 at 7:10 pm #

Hi, Kristine. Thanks for contacting us. Yes, we donate a portion of our proceeds from all of our events to a local charity. Last year the Trail Less Traveled beneficiary was The Hope Center in Oroville and we are hoping to work with them again this year. As soon as we have a charity confirmed we will announce it. Please let us know if you have additional questions. Happy Training, Nikki

Are you going to be doing this race this year? I can’t find much information about it.

Yes, the Trail Less Traveled is April 1st. There is a link to registration on this page Check the pre-race and race-day tabs under the course map for event information. If you have a question that isn’t answered please let us know.

Please change Frankie Dean from 5k to the 1/4 marthron….talked her into it!

    • admin February 22, 2012 at 1:41 pm #

      Nice work, Dana! Change made.

  5. Alisa March 14, 2012 at 1:36 pm #

This is going to my first 5K. What is the difference between a regular shirt and a technical shirt? Sorry that may be a weird question, but I just wanted to know before I registered. Thanks!

    • admin March 14, 2012 at 2:14 pm #

A very valid question, Alisa, and congratulations on registering for your first 5k! A technical shirt is a moisture wicking running shirt. The cotton shirts get very heavy when they absorb sweat and hold on to that moisture for a long time. The tech shirts allow the sweat to pass through the fabric and evaporate quickly. You’ll quickly notice the difference the first time you wear a technical shirt. I hope that helps and we’ll see you on the 1st!

Are we still running if it rains? We’re stoked if this turns into a mud run!

Of course we’re running if it rains! Muddy trails, here we come!

Ran the trail yesterday, not “too” muddy but that could change….Will there be mileposts at each mile? It should be fun…..It WILL be fun!!

    • admin March 30, 2012 at 9:03 am #

Hi Dana, with a full day of rain tomorrow, who knows what we’ll have on Sunday! Should be fun! We will have mile markers on both courses.

  9. Chris March 2, 2013 at 2:32 pm #

Is the 5k only for runners or are you also welcoming walkers? Thinking about signing up with my kids, but I don’t want to be the only walker.

    • admin March 9, 2013 at 12:29 pm #

      Hi Chris,
There will be other walkers! It’s a beautiful trail, I’m sure the kids would love it!

  10. cj March 9, 2013 at 8:11 am #

Hi, was wondering if you know of any longer trail events in this area?

    • admin March 9, 2013 at 12:28 pm #

Hi CJ, currently there are not any other organized trail event in the area, with the exception of mountain bike rides (visit Lobo at for more information those). However, we are planning a longer distance for the 2014 Trail Less Traveled, something in the neighborhood of 13-15 miles, as well as another possible long distance trail run. We’ll keep you posted on those activities. Thanks for asking!

      • Scott March 12, 2013 at 8:36 pm #

        See you on Sunday.

        • admin March 13, 2013 at 6:11 am #

We’re trying to maintain the element of surprise, Scott 🙂 You’ll certainly be the first to know.

    • Scott March 12, 2013 at 8:34 pm #

  11. Randi April 15, 2013 at 12:19 am #

When will the results for 2013 be up or where can I find them?

  12. Laura Filbeck December 22, 2013 at 3:53 pm #

Do you think the Trail Less Traveled will be in the California half/full marathon Series. It would be great to bring people to Oroville for the series.

    • admin January 5, 2014 at 4:39 pm #

Hi, I believe you got in touch with us via email regarding your question…but the course has to be a half marathon to qualify for the CA Half/Full Marathon series. Thanks!

      • Laura Filbeck January 5, 2014 at 8:57 pm #

I sent a facebook message to the CA series and they are sending me a form so I can run trail less traveled since it is over the half marathon miles. They also told me to have you email them via their web page and they can get you in the series. I told them the course was over 13.1 because of being a trail and the turn around point. Hopefully you do not mind that I asked them if the race could qualify because I really want to run this course.
Thank you a bunch for all you do.

  13. stacy December 24, 2013 at 5:02 am #

could you please tell me how many miles the quarter marathon is?

    thank you.

    • admin January 5, 2014 at 4:38 pm #

Hi, The quarter marathon is 6.55 miles.

  14. Christina March 2, 2014 at 5:29 am #

Are walkers still welcome on the 1/4 marathon? I’d like to do more distance then the 5K. 🙂

    • admin March 10, 2014 at 11:43 am #

Yes, walkers are welcome on the 1/4 Marathon course! Hope to see you out there!

  15. Russell Michael March 6, 2014 at 7:20 pm #

When will you be releasing the 14 mile course map?

    • admin March 10, 2014 at 11:42 am #

      Hi there,
We have added Part 2 to the 14-mile course above. Participants will cover the Quarter Marathon course first and then head over Saddle Dam into Loafer Creek.

Hope to see you out there!

  16. Kevin April 7, 2015 at 8:48 am #

I have a silly question. How do I get there from Chico. Do I just turn on Kelly ridge road and then It’ll pop out at me or what? It’s kind of hard to determine from the map, as well as googling saddle dam day use area. Thanks for any help you can provide! Looking forward to it!!

    • admin April 7, 2015 at 9:42 am #

      Hi Kevin,
I agree, it is difficult to find on a map but super easy to find in person! Yes, just turn left on Kelly Ridge Road from Hwy 162 and it will magically appear on the ride side. And we’ll have a banner at the road to make it even easier to find!

      See you Sunday!

  17. Haley March 6, 2016 at 12:22 pm #
